A Song of the Celts

- 1 -
I wasn't born in Ireland, I didn't grow up in the land of the Gaels,

I was raised on some distant sand far from the stories and the tales.
Long time ago from Ireland, my mother’s mother’s family came,
To find a new life on new soil, a new home, new dignity to claim.

- chorus -
And, yet, I hear the song of the Celts, in my heart and in my soul,
Still I hear the song of the Celts evoking memories of long ago.

- 2 -
I long to know my ancestral home, a yearning calls me to return,
To a land I have never known, other than the dreams that in me burn.
Now I am far from Ireland, haunted by ancient memories
Of a land that’s known suffering, of a people gave my life to me.

- chorus -
And still I hear a song of the Celts, in my heart and in my soul,
Still I hear the song of the Celts calling me to memories long ago.

- 3 -
A fire burns inside of me, a restless flame that consumes my soul,
To realize my destiny, my hidden past is what I need to know.
Deep in my heart I feel the thread that joins the past with what yet will be,
To understand the poet’s words that sing of that green land across the sea.

- chorus -
And now I sing a song of the Celts, in my heart and in my soul,
Still I sing the song of the Celts, calling me to memories long ago.
